Set posting rhythm and approval channel
Follow the set posting rhythm and approval channel workflow in Slack.
Goal
Set how often the brand should post and where approval requests appear in Slack. These two settings align planning, scheduling, and review notices for the active brand.
When to use this
Use this workflow when:
- The activation checklist shows Set posting rhythm as the next incomplete row.
- You connected accounts and need to choose where approval cards post.
- You want a quick posting intensity during setup before tuning a full cadence profile later.
During onboarding, you can set a simple posting rhythm and approval channel first. Use the full cadence wizard from Settings when you need detailed windows and platform rules.
Before you begin
A brand must exist with timezone saved in Brand Basics. Interactive planning is included on Free, Starter, Team, and Scale plans.
Know which Slack channel should receive approval cards and inbox review activity. Teammates who approve content need access to that channel.
Steps
Set posting rhythm
- From setup on App Home, open the cadence step when the checklist shows Set posting rhythm, or choose Resume Setup when that is the next job.
- In the Set Cadence modal, choose Posting intensity:
- Light targets about three posts per week
- Steady targets about five posts per week (default)
- Growth targets about eight posts per week
- Submit to save cadence for the brand timezone.
Intensity maps to persisted cadence settings used by Plan and queue scheduling. Invalid or missing selections show field errors on the modal so you can correct them before submit succeeds.
Set the approval channel
- Open Set Approval Channel from the checklist or the connect-accounts path.
- Select an existing Slack channel, or enter a new channel name to create one.
- Submit to save where approval cards and inbox review activity should post.
You must select a channel before submit succeeds. For full inbox and posts channel setup beyond the onboarding modal, choose Open Brand Settings from the same modal.
Cadence wizard (full profile)
When you need more control after onboarding:
- Open Settings from App Home.
- Open Cadence to run the multi-step cadence wizard.
- Answer each step. Use Back to change earlier answers.
- Submit to save the profile and close the modal.
If the modal says the view is out of date, reopen Cadence from Settings and submit again with your latest answers.
Confirm it worked
After you save posting rhythm and the approval channel:
- The activation checklist marks Set posting rhythm complete.
- Plan respects posting windows for the brand timezone.
- Approval cards and inbox review notices appear in the channel you selected.
Open the approval channel in Slack and confirm the app can post there. Trigger a test approval later if you want to see a live card.
Troubleshooting
Posting intensity field shows an error
Select one of Light, Steady, or Growth before you submit. Missing or invalid values stay on the modal with a field error.
Approval channel submit fails
Confirm you selected or entered a channel name. Create the channel in Slack first if you typed a new name and Slack could not create it automatically.
App Home looks unchanged after submit
Switch to another tab and return to Slash Social App Home. The checklist row should update after the home tab refreshes.
Cadence wizard says the view is out of date
Another teammate may have updated cadence settings, or the modal sat open too long. Close the modal, reopen Cadence from Settings, and submit again.
You need deeper cadence changes after setup
See Configure cadence for ongoing edits to windows, quiet hours, and platform overrides.
Jobs fail after cadence is set
Failed jobs appear in Create, Recent Failures, and DM or App Home recovery paths. Cadence settings do not block retries; address the job error separately.
Keep the onboarding checklist open until cadence and channel rows both show completion for the same brand.
