How-to guide

Create content in a collaboration session

Follow the complete Slack workflow to create content in a collaboration session, including prerequisites, decisions, and recovery steps.

Goal

Start a shared content session in Slack, collect the working context, and turn the approved synthesis into a draft.

When to use this

Use a collaboration session when several teammates need to shape one content direction before a creator opens a draft. It fits campaign kickoffs, a response to a fast-moving conversation, or a creative review where the source material belongs in the same Slack discussion. Use a normal Create draft when one person already has the final brief and does not need synthesis.

The session preserves the topic and submitted context. It is not a publishing path. A session produces a draft only after you choose the draft action, and the draft still follows the active brand’s normal review and scheduling rules.

Before you begin

Content co-creation requires the Team plan and an active brand. Anyone who starts the session needs access to the Create work center. The draft inherits the active brand, so switch brands in App Home before you begin.

Steps

Start a collaboration session

  1. In Create, choose the collaboration-topic action when it is available.
  2. Enter the topic and any context the team should use, then submit the modal.
  3. Open the collaboration message and choose Open composer when you need to add or review the session input.

The session message keeps the topic and the Slack context together for collaborators.

Choose a topic that identifies the decision the team needs to make. Include source links, audience details, platform constraints, and campaign context in the session instead of relying on messages outside the thread. The person who starts the session should verify the active brand before submit; a session is scoped to that brand and cannot safely be moved by changing App Home afterward.

Synthesize the session

  1. From the session message, choose Synthesize.
  2. Review the generated synthesis in Slack.
  3. Choose Create draft when the synthesis is ready for the normal Create and approval workflow.

Creating a draft reuses the synthesis path. It does not publish content or bypass approval requirements.

If the synthesis presents several directions, discuss or revise the session before you create a draft. Creating more than one draft can produce separate items from the same session. Keep one chosen direction when the team wants one approval path and one source of record.

View a session later

Choose View session from the collaboration message to reopen the recorded session. Use this when you need to confirm the topic or synthesis before creating another draft.

The session view is also the safest place to verify whether the synthesis completed. If a teammate changes the surrounding Slack conversation after synthesis, reopen the session rather than assuming the prior output includes the later messages.

Confirm it worked

The session message shows the topic and synthesis. After you choose Create draft, the new item appears in Create for the active brand and follows the normal draft or generation status.

You can confirm the right result by opening the draft preview and checking that the brand, source context, and generated copy match the session. If the draft needs a different schedule, media, or platform target, make those changes in the normal Create flow before requesting approval.

Troubleshooting

Collaboration actions are missing. Confirm the active brand and that your workspace has access to content co-creation. An upgrade prompt means the plan does not include the feature.

Synthesis does not finish. Wait for the session update, then reopen the session. If the resulting draft enters a failed generation state, use Retry a failed generation.

The draft is under the wrong brand. Switch to the intended brand in App Home before you start a new session. A session and its draft use the active brand resolved when the action runs.

A collaborator cannot open the session. Confirm the teammate can access the active brand and the Create work center. Share the collaboration message only in a workspace context where the recipient has the required brand access.

You need to change the direction after synthesis. Reopen the session, add the missing context, and run synthesis again before you create a new draft. Do not assume a previously created draft changes when the session changes.
