Open cadence settings and help modals
Follow the open cadence settings and help modals workflow in Slack.
Goal
Reach cadence settings through the Settings hub and dismiss generate help modals safely. Cadence controls how many posts Plan targets per week and how autopilot behaves. Help and preview modals in Create explain steps without changing your draft.
When to use this
Use this workflow when you need to set or update posting intensity, adjust week-start preferences, or open cadence from Settings rather than Plan. Use the generate help and preview modals when you want an explanation of a create step without submitting data.
This path exists for compatibility with older entry points. The main cadence workflow lives in Configure cadence, but Settings remains a valid route.
Before you begin
Interactive planning must be enabled for your organization. You need access to the Settings work center for the active brand.
There is no standalone cadence slash command. Cadence always opens from Settings, Plan, or onboarding. If interactive planning is not on your plan, Slack shows an upgrade prompt instead of the set-cadence form.
Steps
Open cadence from Settings
- Type
/socialand choose Settings. - Open Cadence from the Settings hub.
The set-cadence modal opens on top of Settings. You can also reach cadence during onboarding; Settings is the path for later changes.
Set cadence
When the set-cadence form opens:
- Choose posting intensity. Intensity sets the target posts per week for the brand.
- Set autopilot options when shown. Autopilot controls how aggressively Plan fills open slots.
- Confirm week-start settings when the form displays them. Week start affects how Plan groups days in the calendar view.
- Submit to save.
Missing required fields show modal errors and leave the saved cadence unchanged. Aggressive intensity values map to the current growth preset in persisted settings, so the label you see may differ slightly from what is stored.
Generate help and preview modals
Some create flows expose Generate help or Generate preview buttons. Each opens a small dismiss-only modal:
- Click the button when you need an explanation of the current create step or a preview of what generation will produce.
- Read the content in the modal.
- Close the modal to return to the create form.
Those modals do not submit data. Closing them returns you to the same create form state. No draft fields change when you dismiss help or preview.
Confirm it worked
After cadence submit, Plan and queue scheduling respect the saved target posts per week. Open Plan and confirm slot suggestions align with the intensity you chose.
Settings hub and App Home refresh to show updated cadence status after a successful save. If you had Settings open, the hub should reflect the new values without a full reinstall.
For help modals, confirm you return to the create form with your prior inputs intact after closing.
Troubleshooting
Cadence does not open from Settings. Interactive planning may not be on your plan. Slack shows an upgrade prompt instead of the form. Contact your billing owner or see plan limits in Settings billing surfaces.
Submit fails with intensity or week-start errors. Read the modal error text. Fix the flagged field and submit again. Missing intensity or an invalid week-start day blocks save without changing the previous cadence.
Saved cadence does not match what you selected. Aggressive intensity maps to the growth preset internally. Reopen cadence from Settings to see the saved values.
Help or preview modal will not close. Use the modal close button or dismiss control. These surfaces are dismiss-only; they do not require submit.
Old command names or bookmarks do not work. Cadence does not have a standalone slash command. Always open cadence from /social Settings or from Plan. Reopen from Settings rather than bookmarking deprecated entry points.
App Home still shows old cadence status. Close and reopen App Home. Cadence submit triggers an async UI refresh; a manual refresh picks up the latest state.
