Configure platforms and integrations

Follow the configure platforms and integrations workflow in Slack.

Goal

Adjust organization-level platform capabilities, cross-posting rules, and integration entry points without leaving the Settings hub. These settings control which formats each platform supports, how one draft can target multiple networks, and where you connect social profiles.

When to use this

Use this workflow when you add a new social platform to your stack, change which post formats are allowed per platform, set cross-post rules for multi-platform publishing, or open account connection flows from the integration pages. Revisit platform settings after plan changes or when Create surfaces validation errors tied to platform capabilities.

Before you begin

You need admin or roles access for platform settings. The Settings hub enforces admin and roles checks before opening platform management modals.

Have at least one brand selected when a setting is brand-scoped. Organization-level caps and cross-post rules apply across brands; account connections are always brand-specific.

Steps

Open platform settings

  1. Type /social and choose Settings.
  2. From the Workspace group, open Connected Accounts when you need to connect, reconnect, or disconnect social profiles.
  3. Open Integrations when you are editing platform behavior, caps, or cross-post rules rather than individual account tokens.
  4. From platform management actions on the account or integration pages, open Manage Platforms, Cross-Post Rules, or Soft Caps when those buttons appear.

Admin permission is required before these modals open. If nothing happens when you click, confirm your role includes platform settings access.

Configure capabilities and cross-posting

In the platform modals:

  1. Review which formats and behaviors each platform supports for your organization. Capabilities determine what Create and publish flows offer for each network.
  2. Set cross-post rules where multi-platform publishing from one draft is enabled for your organization. Rules define which primary platform can fan out to which secondary targets.
  3. Submit each form to save. Invalid combinations are rejected in the modal with field-level errors on the affected fields.

Saved settings refresh the modal and update Create and publish checks immediately. Teammates already in a create flow may need to reopen the form to see updated options.

Use Soft Caps when you need to limit posting volume per platform at the organization level. Caps interact with cadence and queue scheduling in Plan.

Connect accounts from platform flows

When a platform page shows missing connections:

  1. Choose Connect accounts from the same context.
  2. Complete the shared account management modal. Organization and brand limits apply during connection.
  3. Reconnect individual accounts from the same modal when a profile shows expired or disconnected status.

If Slack says the action expired before the modal opens, run the action again from App Home or Settings. Trigger IDs expire quickly; a fresh click from Settings reliably opens the connection flow.

Canva design imports are available on Free, Starter, Team, and Scale plans. Connect Canva through the integration surfaces in Create when you import designs to the media library.

Confirm it worked

Open Create and confirm format options match the capabilities you saved. A platform you disabled for a format should no longer offer that format in the create form.

Set a cross-post rule and start a multi-platform draft. Cross-post targets in Create should match the rules you configured in Cross-Post Rules.

Return to Connected Accounts and confirm each profile shows connected status. App Home should reflect connected accounts for the active brand.

Troubleshooting

Platform modals do not open. Confirm admin or roles access. Reopen Settings and try again from Integrations or Connected Accounts.

Submit shows field-level errors. Read the flagged fields in the modal. Invalid capability or cross-post combinations must be corrected before save. Fix values and submit again; partial saves are not applied.

Connect accounts action expires. Click Connect accounts again from Settings rather than an old message button. Open Settings first, then start the connection flow.

Account shows disconnected after setup. Open Connected Accounts, choose Reconnect on the affected profile, and complete the OAuth flow. See Account connection expired for token and permission issues.

Create still shows old platform options. Close and reopen the create modal. Saved platform settings apply on the next surface open.

Cross-post targets missing in Create. Confirm the cross-post rule includes the platform pair you expect and that both accounts are connected for the active brand.
