Configure link in bio and UTM settings
Follow the configure link in bio and utm settings workflow in Slack.
Goal
Set up your brand’s public Link in Bio page, tracked shortlinks, and UTM defaults so outbound links carry consistent campaign parameters and your bio page shows the right profile links and pinned posts.
When to use this
Use this workflow when you are launching or updating a Link in Bio page, creating short URLs for campaigns, or standardizing UTM fields across publish and CTA flows. Link in Bio is brand-scoped. UTM defaults and shortlinks can be configured at organization or brand scope depending on which Settings entry you open.
Before you begin
Confirm these prerequisites:
- An active brand is selected in App Home.
- You have brand management access for that brand.
If you manage multiple brands, switch to the correct brand before opening any link settings. Changes apply to the active brand unless you explicitly open an organization-scoped UTM or shortlink entry.
Steps
Open link settings from Settings
- Type
/socialand choose Settings. - Under Links & Distribution, open the entry you need:
- Link in Bio opens the public bio page hub.
- UTM Defaults opens campaign tracking parameters.
- Shortlinks opens tracked short URL management.
- You can also reach the bio hub from Create or from Settings then Link in Bio.
Each entry opens its own management surface. Pick the one that matches the task before you edit fields.
Configure the Link in Bio page
- From the bio hub, open Settings (or the bio page settings modal) for the active page.
- Set the page title, profile links, and any extra links the form offers.
- Use Manage posts or Add post to pin published or scheduled content to the page.
- Open Manage extra links when you need links outside the main profile list.
- Switch hub tabs for Posts, Links, or Analytics without losing the selected page context. Hub navigation keeps your current page selected as you move between tabs.
- Open Analytics when you need click or view ranges for the bio page. If no bio page exists yet, analytics may redirect you to complete setup first.
On each bio entry row, use the overflow menu to pin, reorder, or remove entries without leaving the hub.
Submit page settings when you finish. The form validates slug, URL, campaign mode, and analytics fields before save.
Create shortlinks
- Open Shortlinks from Settings.
- Choose Create shortlink.
- Enter the destination URL and label, then submit.
- On an existing row, choose Copy to copy the resolved short URL to your clipboard.
Set UTM defaults
- Open UTM Defaults from Settings.
- Save source, medium, campaign, and related fields your brand uses on outbound links.
- Submit the form. CTA and publish flows apply the UTM defaults that match each item’s scope.
Confirm it worked
Check these signals after you save:
- Open the bio page URL in a browser. Profile links, extra links, and pinned posts appear as configured.
- Create a shortlink, copy it, and resolve it once in a browser. The destination loads correctly.
- Publish or preview a post with links and confirm UTM parameters match your saved defaults.
- Bio hub tabs (Settings, Posts, Links, Analytics) stay on the same page as you navigate.
Save outcomes include saved, active, or skipped depending on the action you took. Use the visible state to decide whether to test the public page, retry the form, or leave the optional step unfinished.
Troubleshooting
Bio analytics or hub actions redirect to setup
You may not have a bio page configured yet. Complete bio page settings first, then return to analytics or post management.
Bio page settings reject your submit
Check slug and URL format, campaign mode, and analytics fields shown in the modal. Fix validation errors on the form rather than resubmitting the same values.
Shortlink or bio link does not resolve
See Shortlink or Link in Bio is not working.
You need scope or domain details
See the Config domains reference for how UTM and link settings fit the broader configuration model.
