Navigate App Home and work centers

Follow the navigate app home and work centers workflow in Slack.

Goal

Move between Slash Social work centers and settings from App Home so you land on the right daily view for Create, Plan, Workflow, Engage, Insights, or Settings without hunting through Slack channels.

When to use this

Use App Home navigation when you want to:

  • Switch from one work center to another (for example, from Create to Plan or Engage)
  • Customize your Today dashboard layout
  • Open Settings Hub for accounts, brands, billing, notifications, and other configuration
  • Return to App Home after a notification deep link

App Home is the primary home surface for Slash Social inside Slack. Work center switches refresh the body content and cards while keeping your workspace and brand context.

Before you begin

Confirm Slash Social is installed in your Slack workspace and you can open the app Home tab.

You need access to App Home in the installed workspace. Paths into Settings Hub may require Settings work center access. Customize Today saves your personal App Home preferences and does not require admin rights by itself.

If your org uses multiple brands, note the active brand shown in App Home before you open settings that are brand-scoped.

Steps

Open App Home

  1. In Slack, open Apps and select Slash Social, or use a Slash Social notification that links to App Home.
  2. Select the Home tab if Slack opens the app on another tab.

App Home loads a shell first, then publishes the full view with your last work center preference and cards.

Switch work centers

  1. In the App Home header, choose Switch work center.
  2. Pick a destination:
    • Today: your customizable daily dashboard
    • Create, Plan, Workflow, Engage, Insights, or Settings: the home view for that work center
  3. Wait for App Home to refresh with the new body content and cards.

Your selection is saved as a preference. When you return to App Home later, the menu should reflect your last choice.

Deep links from notifications: Some notifications open App Home directly on a specific work center. If a deep link is no longer valid, Slash Social returns you to a safe default view without corrupting your saved work center preference.

Customize Today

  1. Switch to Today, then choose Customize Today.
  2. Pick a preset or select up to the allowed number of job-family cards.
  3. Set your primary card for the top of the dashboard.
  4. Save.

Your layout stays until you edit it again or a required job card is added by policy.

Open Settings Hub

  1. Switch to Settings, or choose Open Settings Hub from a settings card on App Home.
  2. Browse sections for accounts, brands, billing, notifications, and other settings.
  3. Open a config item. Some paths open a detail modal; others update the hub in place.

Settings Hub keeps brand context while you move between sections.

Confirm it worked

  • Work center switch: The header shows your selected work center. Body cards match that work center (for example, Create shows draft and generation cards).
  • Customize Today: Saved cards and primary card order match what you chose in the customize modal.
  • Settings Hub: The section you opened loads without losing brand context. Config modals open when expected for that setting type.
  • Return visits: App Home opens on your last work center preference unless a valid deep link overrides it once.

Troubleshooting

App Home does not refresh after a switch: Switch to another work center and back. If the view is still stale, type /social and run a task from the Command Palette to force a fresh interaction, or close and reopen the Home tab.

Invalid or old notification link: Slash Social should land you on a safe default. Your saved work center preference should remain unchanged. Navigate manually with Switch work center.

Settings section missing or blocked: Confirm you switched to the Settings work center and that your role allows that settings path. Some items open only from Settings Hub after you pick the right subsection.

Brand context looks wrong: Check the active brand in App Home before opening brand-scoped settings or Create cards. Switch brand from App Home if your org manages multiple brands.
