Give the team one place to start the day.

Follow the give the team one place to start the day. workflow in Slack.

Goal

Use Slash Social App Home as your daily starting point in Slack. One screen shows what needs attention for your active brand: drafts, approvals, planning gaps, inbox work, and setup tasks.

When to use this

Open App Home when you start your day, switch brands, or need a single place to jump into Create, Plan, Workflow, Engage, Insights, or Settings without hunting through channels. App Home adapts to your role (creator, approver, or admin) and refreshes after you complete actions elsewhere in the app.

Before you begin

  • Slash Social is installed in your workspace.
  • You have access to the Create work center (and other work centers your role allows).
  • Know your active brand if your org runs multiple brands. Counts and cards on App Home are brand-scoped.

To open App Home: in Slack, go to Apps in the left sidebar and select Slash Social. Or type /social and choose the App Home path from the Command Palette.

Steps

Open App Home

  1. In Slack, open Apps and select Slash Social.
  2. Wait for the home tab to load.
  3. If you work across brands, confirm the active brand shown at the top matches the client or property you are handling today.

App Home refreshes when you return to the tab or after you finish an action in a modal, thread, or DM from Slash Social.

Read your queue by work center

App Home groups work into work centers. Use Switch work center at the top to move between them. Pick Command Palette when you know the task name but not which area owns it.

Sections you may see:

  • Today: Cards you can customize for your primary jobs. Use this for a personal snapshot of what matters first.
  • Create: Compose posts, manage ideas and drafts, and open the media library. Drafts may show states such as saved, queued for generation, pending approval, or generation failed.
  • Plan: Calendar, queue, campaigns, and gap fill for publishing operations.
  • Workflow: Approvals, review queue, and history for items waiting on your team.
  • Engage: Inbox and conversations that need a reply or triage.
  • Insights: Reports and analytics snapshots when your role includes them.
  • Settings: Connected accounts, billing, team access, and the Settings Hub.

Act on a card

  1. Scan counts and labels on the cards for your active brand.
  2. Click the card or button that matches your next task (for example, open pending approvals or resume a draft).
  3. Complete the modal or list flow. When you close it, return to App Home to see updated counts.

If you manage media for posts, the Create area can link you to library workflows. The content library is included on Starter, Team, and Scale plans; it is not included on the Free plan.

Jump tasks with the Command Palette

When App Home feels crowded or you already know the destination:

  1. Choose Command Palette from App Home or run /social.
  2. Search for the task by name (compose, approvals, inbox, settings, and similar).
  3. Open the matching surface directly.

Success criteria

You are in the right place when:

  • App Home loads without a blank screen.
  • Card counts match what you expect for the active brand (for example, pending approvals align with your review list).
  • Buttons and cards open the correct modal, list, or thread instead of doing nothing.
  • After you complete work, returning to App Home shows refreshed counts.

Troubleshooting

App Home is blank or stale

Switch to another Slack tab and back to Slash Social App Home. If counts still look wrong, run an action from /social (such as opening Create or approvals) to trigger a refresh.

Counts do not match a list you opened

Confirm the active brand at the top of App Home. A card scoped to Brand A will not include Brand B items. Switch brands before comparing counts to list contents.

A section or card is missing

Your role may hide work centers you cannot use. An admin sees Settings and billing; a creator may see Create and Plan but not every approval control. Ask a workspace admin to confirm your role if you expect access.

You cannot find a task

Use Command Palette or /social instead of scrolling every work center. For a full list of entry points, see Slash commands reference.
