Install Slash Social in Slack
Set up install slash social in slack during your first Slash Social workspace run.
Goal
Install Slash Social in the Slack workspace where your team will plan, review, and publish social content. When you finish, App Home loads with setup guidance or work centers, and the primary slash commands autocomplete in Slack.
Before you begin
You need permission to install apps in the workspace, or a workspace owner who can approve the install request.
Pick the workspace your marketing or social team uses for daily work. Slash Social links that workspace to your organization during install. If your company uses multiple Slack workspaces, install in each workspace where teammates will work in the app.
Have a desktop or web Slack client ready. You will complete OAuth in the browser and then return to Slack to open App Home.
Steps
- Open the Slash Social install page at
https://go.slashsocial.app/slack/install. - Review the requested Slack permissions and select the correct workspace.
- Approve the install. If your workspace requires admin approval, ask an owner to approve the request.
- After OAuth completes, find Slash Social in the Slack app list and open App Home (the Home tab on the app).
- Wait for App Home to finish loading. The first open may show a loading shell, then the full home view with setup steps or work centers such as Create, Plan, Insights, and Settings.
- Type
/socialin any channel and confirm the command palette opens. - Confirm
/social-createand/social-approveautocomplete when you type them. These commands start create and approval workflows from any channel. - Optional: switch work centers from App Home to confirm navigation responds. Deep links to work centers should refresh App Home without errors.
Install creates the link between your Slack workspace and your Slash Social organization. Billing and brands belong to the organization; additional workspaces in the same organization share them after install. You can add more workspaces later without creating a new organization.
Confirm it worked
App Home shows either an onboarding setup path or your work centers (Today, Create, Plan, Inbox, Insights, Settings, depending on rollout state).
Slash commands should autocomplete:
/socialopens the command palette for navigation and quick actions/social-createstarts a create workflow/social-approveopens approval workflows
If App Home was open during install, close and reopen it once so the view refreshes. Send yourself a test message in a channel and confirm slash commands still respond if you use Slack on mobile and desktop.
Next step: Set up your first brand before you invite the full team or connect social accounts. For a full list of slash commands, see Slack slash commands.
If something goes wrong
Install page shows the wrong workspace
Cancel and restart from https://go.slashsocial.app/slack/install. Confirm you are logged into Slack in the browser with the account that administers the target workspace.
OAuth succeeds but App Home is empty or stale
Close App Home, reopen it from the app list, or switch to another Slack view and back. App Home reloads on open and should show setup or work centers.
/social does not autocomplete
Confirm the app installed successfully under Apps in Slack. Reinstall if the app is missing. Wait a few minutes for Slack to index new slash commands, then try again in a channel where you have posting access.
Commands work but buttons on App Home do nothing
Refresh App Home. If problems continue, reinstall in the same workspace or ask a workspace admin to confirm the app is not restricted.
You installed in the wrong workspace
Install again in the correct workspace. Each workspace needs its own install to use Slash Social there. Org data stays tied to the organization created on first install; contact your admin if you need workspaces merged under one org.
