Personalize reusable reply templates with brand-scoped variables so teammates send consistent language without retyping names, links, or offers.
Overview
Saved reply variables let admins and creators define named placeholders that reply templates reference. When a teammate inserts a template in the Engage inbox, Slack opens a fill form for any required values before the resolved text lands in the reply composer.

Personas: Admin, creator, and approver roles can use saved reply variables where their permissions allow.
Variable values resolve at send time from what the teammate enters in the fill form plus brand context the product supplies for that conversation.
How to use it
- Open
/social, switch to Settings, then Inbox and Replies. - Open Reply Templates Variables (Brand) or Reply Templates Variables (Org) to define variables.
- Open Reply Templates to write reply text that references those variables.
- In the Engage inbox, insert a saved reply that includes variables and complete the fill form Slack opens.
Surfaces involved: the channel inbox list and the reply modal.
Details
- Organizations can hold up to 50 active saved replies. See Usage limits for current caps.
- Brand-scoped variables apply to templates for that brand. Org-scoped variables apply across brands in the org when you choose the org variables screen.
- To confirm setup works: save a template with at least one variable, insert it in a test conversation, complete the fill form, and confirm the sent reply shows resolved text instead of raw placeholders.
