Assignment rules

Current assignment rules facts for Slash Social.

Assignment rules route posts and inbox work to the right teammate based on conditions you define. Slash Social evaluates rules when new work items arrive and assigns unassigned items to the teammate named on the first matching rule.

What it includes

Assignment rules live in the Settings work center. The feature is in beta. See Plan comparison for current plan availability.

Admins, creators, and approvers can open the auto-assign section from App Home. On entitled plans you can create, edit, reorder, and delete rules. On lower plans the section shows a preview of auto-assign without active rules.

Each rule combines conditions with a target assignee. When a new work item matches a rule’s conditions, Slash Social assigns it to that teammate. Higher-priority rules run first when more than one rule matches. Rules apply only when the work item is currently unassigned.

Typical condition dimensions include:

  • Content pillar or campaign
  • Social account or platform
  • Workflow stage (draft, review, inbox triage)
  • Conversation or inbox category

How to use it

  1. Open App Home and switch to Engage or Settings.
  2. Open the Auto-assign work section.
  3. Choose Manage rules to create, edit, reorder, or delete assignment rules.
  4. Save each rule with the conditions and assignee your team expects.
  5. Create a test item that matches a rule you saved and confirm the assigned owner matches the rule target within a normal processing window.

Reorder rules when two conditions could overlap so the higher-priority rule reflects the assignment you want.

Details

Assignment rules run automatically through the work-item pipeline. They do not change ownership on items that already have an assignee.

If an expected assignment does not appear, confirm the item is unassigned, that a rule’s conditions match the item’s pillar, account, stage, or inbox category, and that rule order puts the intended rule first among matches.
