Create per-account posts
Follow the create per-account posts workflow in Slack.
Goal
Create one draft per selected social account from a single Create submission. You compose once in per-account mode, and Slash Social splits the work into separate items so each account can keep its own caption override, format fallback, and media assignment.
When to use this
Use per-account mode when you selected more than one connected account in Create and need different copy or media per platform instead of one shared post across all targets.
Typical cases:
- Instagram needs a shorter caption while LinkedIn keeps the long version
- One account posts a reel format while another uses a static image
- You want separate drafts per account so approvals and scheduling stay independent
If you only need one post shared across accounts, keep per-account mode off and submit a single combined item. See Create and schedule a post for the standard flow.
Before you begin
Confirm these items:
- Multiple connected accounts are available for your active brand in Create
- Per-account (per-platform) customization is enabled in the Create modal
- Caption, format, and media fields are filled for shared defaults or per-account overrides as needed
- Accounts meet media and validation rules for their platforms before you submit
Open Create with /social-create or from the Create work center in App Home.
Steps
1. Set up per-account mode in Create
- Open
/social-createor start a draft from the Create work center. - Select more than one account in the account picker.
- Enable per-account customization when the modal offers it. Multi-post creation runs only when per-platform mode is on and multiple accounts are selected.
- Fill shared fields first, then open per-account sections for caption overrides, format choices, and media assignments where platforms differ.
2. Review the per-account matrix
Before you submit, scan each account row:
- Caption: Shared caption applies unless you set a per-account override
- Format: Platform format fallback resolves per account when formats differ
- Media: Assign media per account when platforms need different assets
Fix validation issues in Create. The multi-post branch checks view state before it creates any per-account items.
3. Submit the Create modal
- Submit the Create modal when fields are complete.
- A Submitting content status modal appears while work runs in the background.
- Wait for the status modal to update. Do not close Slack mid-submit if you expect a confirmation screen.
4. Confirm results
When creation finishes:
- The Posts created completion modal opens and lists how many posts were created.
- Review the count against the number of accounts you selected.
- Submit or close the confirmation modal to return to your previous view.
Each successful account gets its own draft. It can appear as draft saved, queued, or pending approval depending on what you chose in Create.
5. If creation fails
When submit fails validation or a per-account create errors:
- A Create failed modal opens with the failure context.
- Fix account, media, or limit issues shown in the modal.
- Return to Create, adjust fields, and submit again.
If background work does not finish, open Failed Jobs from the Create work center and retry or inspect the failed job there.
Success criteria
You finished this workflow when:
- The Posts created modal reports the expected number of new posts
- Each selected account has its own draft visible in Posts or Create
- Per-account caption overrides and media assignments match what you entered before submit
- No account is missing a draft unless you removed it from the selection before submit
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Only one post created | Per-account mode off or one account selected | Enable per-account mode and select multiple accounts |
| Submitting content never finishes | Background job still running or failed | Check Failed Jobs on Create; retry from there |
| Create failed modal | Account, media, or limit validation | Read the modal message, fix fields, submit again |
| Wrong caption on one account | Override not set for that account | Reopen the draft and set the per-account caption override |
| Wrong format on one account | Platform format fallback | Adjust format per account in Create before resubmitting |
| Missing media on one account | Per-account media assignment | Attach media for that account in Create or Choose media |
| Generation failed on one draft | That account’s draft failed later in the process | Use Retry a failed generation for the failed item |
| Confirmation count lower than expected | One or more accounts failed validation | Open Failed Jobs, fix failing accounts, and resubmit |
